God-Talk 2
A weekly challenge think a bit!
Isn’t the Bible an old book that is completely outmoded?
It is certainly true that it is quite some time ago that the Bible was
written. But let me tell you something: Up to the year 2001 parts of
the Bible had been translated into 2.260 languages, the whole Bible was
translated in 383 languages, and the New Testament (the “Christian
part”) in 983 languages. No other book has been translated so often.
And year by year the Bible is the book that is printed and sold more
often than any other book in the world.
Here comes my question: How can a modern human being from the 21st
century ignore the book that is printed and read more often than any
other book in the world? Wouldn’t one think that there must be a reason
for that? Other books also appeal to the religious feelings of the
people, may be even more. But why then the Bible? What is it, that is
so attractive in this book?
Romans 15:4 "For whatever is written in the Bible is written for our
instruction, that through the comfort and the encouragement of the
Scriptures we might have hope."
